ABOUT OUR HOST
The SFCM Opera and Musical Theatre program draws exceptionally gifted young singers from around the world and provides them with advanced multi-faceted training in vocal performance, acting, stage movement, stage combat, and other essentials of stagecraft. Each year, SFCM produces three fully staged operas with orchestra, an Undergraduate opera, and two musical theatre productions. In addition to fully-staged productions, a number of scene showcases and other performance opportunities are presented each year. Building on a strong foundation of private lessons, weekly one-on-one coachings, the Vocal Performance Lab (VPL), and professional development courses, embraces multi-genre performance opportunities alongside its lauded Opera and Musical Theatre Program. Students have access to a highly diverse ensemble program, one that continuously generates the unique performance opportunities that now define the modern musical economy.
“The talent level here is just unbelievable. I feel so inspired as an artist who is twenty years into the career… to hear young artists such as these. It was so inspiring.”
— Jamie Barton, mezzo-soprano, Final Round Adjudicator, 2025 Nationals
