ABOUT OUR HOST
The Boyer College of Music and Dance seeks to provide an inclusive educational community that honors the uniqueness of the individual, values diversity of perspective, and affirms music and dance as central to society and culture. Our voice program provides a 21st-century conservatory-level training for the modern opera singer. Students are trained to be competent and competitive in the diverse and evolving international opera industry. The Voice and Opera area is committed to preparing singers for meaningful, successful, and varied careers. Emphasizing a comprehensive approach involving technique, language, and expression, faculty encourage students to appreciate the power of music to transform lives. Providing conservatory-level training and standards, we also encourage students to engage in their university studies and outside interests to become three-dimensional performing artists, demonstrating technical excellence, expressive power, and connectivity to the community.
“The talent level here is just unbelievable. I feel so inspired as an artist who is twenty years into the career… to hear young artists such as these. It was so inspiring.”
— Jamie Barton, mezzo-soprano, Final Round Adjudicator, 2025 Nationals
