Art Williford is a pianist and teacher from Houston, Texas. He completed his undergraduate studies at Eastman before coming to NYC to study at Juilliard. Recently, he completed his DMA in Collaborative Piano at Juilliard, where he was a CV Starr Doctoral Fellow; his dissertation on Charles Ives was awarded the French Prize. He is a faculty member at Juilliard, where he has taught classes in Music History, Music Theory, and Keyboard Skills; he is also on the Music History faculty at New York University. He served as the pianist for Juilliard’s conducting program for many years, as assistant to Alan Gilbert and David Robertson. Art is excited to return to the Schmidt Vocal Institute this summer!
