
Soprano Carol Ann Allred is equally at home in oratorio, opera, and chamber music. She has appeared as soprano soloist with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Utah Symphony, Salt Lake Tabernacle Choir, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic, Boston Baroque, Detroit Oratorio Society, Marlboro Music Festival, Salt Lake Choral Artists, Bach Choir of Pittsburgh, Chatham Baroque, Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble and many others. Her operatic performances have included leading roles in Le nozze di Figaro, Semele, L’enfant et les sortileges, Die Zauberflöte, Don Giovanni, Cosi fan tutte, Rigoletto, La finta giardiniera, The Crucible, Tartuffe, Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Orfeo. As a recitalist Ms. Allred has performed throughout the USA and Europe. She performed in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Sweden and the Azores with her husband and accompanist, Brady Allred, as an Artistic Ambassador for the United States Information Agency. They have also given recitals in Mumbai, India. Ms. Allred received her Doctorate and Masters degrees from the Eastman School of Music, and her Bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University. Dr. Allred currently teaches at the University of Utah and has also taught at Brigham Young University, Utah Valley University, Seton Hill College, and the New York State Summer School of the Arts. She is the mother of four daughters and wife of conductor Brady Allred. She can be heard on “Sol y Sombra” with Chatham Baroque on the Dorian label.
