Schmidt Vocal Arts Intern Description
The SVA Summer Intern is a seasonal, contracted position with Schmidt Vocal Arts. An excellent candidate will have an interest in learning more about event planning, arts administration, and the field of classical vocal music.
Duties may include:
Remote work (May & June 2026)
- Design and publish social media posts.
- Respond to questions via phone, email, in-person regarding SVA programs.
- Organize information in Google Sheets, Docs, & Drive for various SVA programs.
- Build schedules for both individual programs and entire seasons.
- Contact students and parents about late or missing forms and music.
- Additional projects as assigned, with opportunities to explore areas of professional interest.
Schmidt National High School Voice Competition – In residence in Sarasota, FL (May 28-June 1, 2026)
- Assist set-up/tear-down of banners, signs, and tables.
- Organize participant, staff, and adjudicator folders and bags.
- Check in participants and parents.
- Answer questions about Nationals operations.
- Communicate scheduling info to participants, staff, and adjudicators.
- Direct participants, accompanists, and adjudicators to their respective locations.
Schmidt Vocal Institute Residential Assistant – In residence in Oxford, OH (June 13-29, 2026)
- Assist set-up/tear-down of banners, signs, and tables.
- Organize participant, staff, and adjudicator folders and bags.
- Check in students, staff, and faculty.
- Answer questions about SVI operations.
- Time master classes.
- Transport students, staff, and faculty.
- Work with Conference Services to ensure facilities and ID cards are functioning.
- Look out for the mental and physical well being of students and staff.
Requirements:
- Ability to multitask and work in a high pressure environment
- Ability to work well with many different types of personalities
- Excelled organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must be able to drive a rental car (requires valid driver’s license and minimum age of 21 years old) or be able to use personal car for business use
- Must be able to lift/move office supplies weighing 50+ pounds
- Must comply with all Covid-related precautions
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must own a personal computer to complete remote work
Compensation:
For completion of the above activities, the SVA intern will receive an honorarium of $2,500. In addition:
- SVA Nationals (May 28-June 1)
- Housing will be provided in Steinwachs Artist Residence while in Sarasota (Single Apartment/Private Bathroom/Kitchen).
- SVA will book a RT, economy flight to/from Sarasota-Bradenton
- A Per Diem will be offered for meals not provided by SVA
- Schmidt Vocal Institute (June 13-29)
- Housing will be provided in a student dormitory
- SVA will book a RT, economy flight or RT mileage reimbursement will be provided at the IRS rate
- A meal card will be provided while on campus
