The Schmidt Vocal Competition is turning 25! After inspiring countless singers to pursue their passion in music, Schmidt Vocal Arts is taking it to the next level by offering for the first time the Schmidt Vocal Competition High School Nationals!

Who can compete?
The first, second, and third place winners of all of our High School Regionals in the 2021-2022 season are automatically eligible to compete in the Nationals. All of those singers must meet the eligibility requirements upon entering at the regional level.

When is it?
The Schmidt Vocal Competition High School Nationals will take place from Friday, June 3, 2022 to Sunday, June 5, 2022. Singers will be required to arrive by noon ET on Friday, June 3, and can leave after the awards ceremony on Sunday, June 5.

What can I win?
First Place – $10,000
Second Place – $7,500
Third Place – $5,000
Finalists – $650
Encouragement – $300

Who are the adjudicators?
We could not be more excited about our adjudication panel! Celebrity judges for the national competition final round will be bass-baritone Eric Owens, Sarasota Opera Executive Director Richard Russell, and soprano Tamara Wilson. Semi-final judges will be announced soon.

How much does it cost?
Eligible singers do not have to pay any additional fees to compete in the High School Nationals. Singers/Families will be responsible to cover the travel and accommodations to and from Sarasota, FL. Singers will be required to travel with at least one parent. Schmidt Vocal Arts will be offering need-based travel assistance and low-cost accommodations with an extra application.

How can I get tickets?

Each competing singer will automatically receive two complimentary tickets to each of the public events to be used for parents/guardians (no need to order online).
